DAB - Frequently Asked Questions

Premier's DAB service is up and running - so let's get down to the nitty gritty.

What is DAB radio?

In short, DAB is your ticket to higher quality, better radio - giving you greater control over what you listen to. DAB stands for Digital Audio Broadcast and means instead of receiving Premier across the old MW airwaves, you can now get it digitally.

What good is that?

Quite a bit, unless you are a fan of crackly radio you need to keep re-tuning. DAB means interference free programmes without the snap, crackle and hiss of its analogue predecessor. And gone are the days you have to remember that your favourite Christian radio station can be found on 1305, 1332, and 1413 MW - your DAB set will do that for you! All you need to do is choose Premier by name from the text display screen.

Anything else?

Yes plenty. Your clever new radio will display the names of songs as we play them, meaning you need never again spend days trying to find out the name of the great new tune you heard on Premier.
Some sets come with an Electronic Programme Guide so you can pre-select your favourite Premier shows - and check out a few you've not heard yet.
If that's not enough, some of them even allow you to pause, rewind and record live radio. Perfect for those must hear teaching programmes.

Does it work everywhere?

Not absolutely everywhere, around 85% of the country can get DAB at the moment. Use our postcode checker to make sure you are in an area covered by DAB.

I've checked: I can get Premier Radio, and want to get a DAB radio. Any ideas?

So many. There are thousands of sets available, for all budgets. Try Digital Radio Now for a few ideas. We recommend the Pure Digital range.

Where can I buy a set?

DAB radios are available from most high street electrical retailers and department stores. When you've chosen your favourite, Pricerunner will help you find it at the best price. Premier on DAB radio - join the digital revolution!
