Alan's Sight Loss: To mark the first of two Disability Sundays Reflections producer Rachel Dalby speaks to Alan Whetherly about his sight loss. Alan became partially sighted at the age of nine, and struggled to be included by his friends and family. Alan, who is the youth leader at Through the Roof - a Christian organisation that helps disabled people and their families - has since succeeded in many areas, including athletics, tennis and sports management.

Diana and Victoria Webster, authors of So Many Everests: From Cerebral Palsy to Casualty Consultant will be speaking to John Pantry from Helsinki. Dr Victoria Webster was born with cerebral palsy, which resulted in a speech defect and some other disabilities. Determined to use her considerable talents to the utmost, she grew up to become a doctor - and the first to specialise in Accident and Emergency medicine in a Nordic country. Diana, Victoria's mother and co-author, was equally determined that her daughter should do everything that she could, and together they battled with society's view of disability.

In 2000, at 16 years old, she lost her right foot to engine propellers in a boating accident, in an instant her life changed and her athletic ambitions were shattered. Alan's Calling: In the second of two programmes to mark Disability Sunday, Reflections producer Rachel Dalby speaks to Through the Roof’s Alan Whetherly about his calling into Christian youth work. Alan’s life had been torn apart by addiction when he felt God calling him in a new direction. His work has since taken him to far flung places, but he’s about to launch a brand new project for young people here in the UK.
